Summer League Performance Is The Best Indicator Of Regular Season Success

This blog will serve as the most detailed, thoughtful analysis as to the multitude of reasons that the Cleveland Cavaliers should not resign Lebron James.

First, as most basketball pundits will note, the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas is the number one predictor of NBA post-season success the following year. That said, the Cleveland Cavaliers are 2-10 since 2007 in summer league play. That's a winning percentage of .1667. Not very good!

What is more amazing than the Cavs horrible summer league record ove the past 3 seasons is the fact that LBJ still has a job in Cleveland. Look back at the recent summer teams the Cavaliers have fielded. Lebron's name is no where to be found. Some might argue that LBJ's 2007 and 2008 summers were consumed with Team USA basketball and claiming gold with the Redeem Team in Beijing. I would argue with a hearty, "That's Crap!". The 5 games each summer that the Cavs play in Las Vegas with a bunch of top-tier talent would've went a long way towards pushing the Cavs over the hump and bringing a championship to the city of Cleveland. Mr. James should consider which is more important, receiving the admiration and glory of an entire nation, winning the gold medal with a cast of nobodies, expanding his international franchise or creating a synergy with current summer leaguer and future HOFer David Harrison.

The fact that #23 isn't in Vegas this year is even more agregious than his lack of attendance the past 2 summers. Unreal! Forget the fact that LBJ has a family, a billionaires' conference in Idaho, a plethora of marketing opportunites, and roughly 200 games coupled with practices over the past 2 years! This kid is 24! That's a light load for the local 63 year old rec. player with high socks and Buck Williams goggles.

LBJ should be counting his blessings that he is still employed as a Cavalier. One of the biggest blunders in NBA roster history was that someone off of the 2005 Cavalier Summer League roster didn't take "The King's" roster spot. Check out the names on that storied team. It was a collection of accomplished foreign and college players (What did LBJ accomplish in college?).
